Beginning (or refresher) Watercolor, Tuesdays, 1:30- 4:00
6 weeks starting February 12
This course will offer beginning painters the opportunity to explore and
develop their own personal skills with this very exciting medium. It could also
serve as a good brush-up for those who haven’t painted in a while. We will focus
on the proper use of equipment and materials as we cover a wide range of
"how to" techniques.  Students will paint the subject matter of their choice-
bring your own photos. Bring your own painting supplies or you may purchase

Getting Loose and Getting Better, Wednesday, 6:30-9:00pm
6 weeks starting February 13
This class is all about getting more relaxed with paint and doing
more paintings.  No matter what your artistic pursuit is, the best way to get
better at it is to do more of it.  Over the years of teaching this class, students
have worked with Japanese ink and brush on rice paper, made 30 minute
paintings, painted from poetry, painted from words out of a hat, etc.  It is
really a fun class- great for beginners because it gets them loose and not
so afraid of painting and more advanced painters get good ideas about being
more creative.  Kathrine Lovell has taught this class in her own studio for
many years and at the Barrington Community School, as well.  This is the
first time it is being offered to the RIWS community.  Please enclose a
SASE for a materials list.
            members $80; non-members $95: instructor Kathrine Lovell

expression.  One or several paintings will be attempted so skills will be
honed and sheer excitement will be experienced. Some painting experience
